What Is WildBlue?
WildBlue is a high speed
internet service that can provide your home or office with internet speeds up
to 1.5mbps. If you’re wondering how fast that is, imagine 30 times faster than
your old 56k dial-up. Also WildBlue is always on, you don’t have to dial a
number with your computer and interrupt phone lines. Just turn on your
computer and start surfing.
Is WildBlue Hard To Use?
Absolutely not, it’s no-different than your current internet
service provider. You can access the same web-browsers, use your email, and
surf all the sites you already enjoy. Actually, there is just one, it’s fast,
really fast. You can download research for school projects or grab information
for your business more efficiently.
What New Equipment Will I
Need?
WildBlue is brought to you
through a satellite mini dish (28” x 26”) and a WildBlue Standardized modem (DOCSIS
cable modem). These are both installed by a WildBlue professional on a
scheduled day in around 2-3 hours. The system is microwave receive and transmit
technology.
Minimum Requirements Include:
PC/windows: 300MHz or faster
processing speed, minimum 128 MB Random Access Memory (RAM), and Windows 98SE,
ME, 2000, XP Home or XP Professional operating system. 100 MB of hard drive
space and an Ethernet card are required. Macintosh: 300 MHz or faster
processing speed, 128MB Random Access Memory (RAM), and OS 10.2 or higher
operating system. 100 MB of hard drive space and an Ethernet card are required.
Contract Info:
WildBlue requires a 12 month contract when service is initiated. If you wish to have
service cancelled before the 12months, then a fee equal to the price of your
monthly service multiplied by the remaining number of months in your contract
will be owed.
Service Speeds:
WildBlue offers different speed levels. The core value Pak offers up to 512 kbps
downloading and up to 128 kbps uploading. The select Pak features downloading
up to 1.0 Mbps and uploading up to 200 Kbps. The Pro Pak offers downloading at
a blazing 1.5 Mbps and downloads at 256 Kbps.
